At 6’5”, 205 pounds with a cannon arm, QB Tyler Travers “looks the part” as the
old scouting saying goes… Out of Mount Juliet High School in Tennessee, Tyler
was named Offensive Player of the Year thanks to his dominance at the
quarterback position… His head coach Trey Perry is one of the best in the
business, and we love to see recruits getting the proper coaching and guidance on
their way up the ranks.
In terms of technicalities and nuances – despite being a young player – Tyler has
an extremely accurate arm… Often times his ball placement appears wise beyond
his years… He is already showcasing the potential to be a true “window thrower” –
the type of quarterback who can thread the needle, even as defenses get faster and
the competition gets tougher and tougher over the years.
You can’t talk or write about Tyler without discussing his plus athleticism… With a
4.66 40 time, we can see the potential for Tyler as a playaction/rollout quarterback
who does a lot of damage on the run… He is already surprisingly accurate tossin’
the rock on the run… His timing is sharp and he has great intuition when it comes
to getting rid of the ball.
In terms of mechanics, Coach Jason Williams and I believe Tyler is ahead of his
age… His mechanics are solid and classical… With a 3.7 GPA, he has a quick
mind and excellent understanding of his positional responsibilities… Not
surprisingly given his skills, Tyler already has offers from Marshall and EKU.
Tyler is heading into a big summer of camps as a top-tier recruit… Coach Williams
grades him as a four-star prospect with five-star on the horizon as he continues
developing his game at a rapid pace. Remember the name Tyler Travers, this young
quarterback is about to blow up in a major way.
